Charming three-story house in a beautiful neighborhood. 1 block from Dickinson College and 4 blocks from downtown restaurants and shops. Front and back yard, big front porch with swing and rocking chairs, brick patio in back. Entry level has large living/dining room, small kids' playroom, powder room (toilet/sink only) and large kitchen. One flight up is 1 large bedroom (with en suite full bath), 1 medium-sized bedroom, and another large full bathroom. Up one final flight of stairs is a third bedroom. We use it for office space and guests. With the futon folded out it could easily be a regular third bedroom.

Carlisle is a town of around 20,000 people (within borough limits), about 20 miles west of Harrisburg, the Pennsylvania state capital. The route from Carlisle to Harrisburg is filled with the usual suburban-style stores and services, but in the other directions, the landscape turns quickly into farmland. The Cumberland valley is framed by low mountains - good hiking and walking - the famous Appalachian Trail runs by just a few miles outside of Carlisle. The downtown is small, but there are quite a few good restaurants and boutiques as well as an excellent full-service, 24-hour grocery store. Washington DC, Philadelphia, and Baltimore are all about a 2 hour drive away. New York City is about 3-1/2 hours away by car. Both Philly and NYC can also be reached by train from Harrisburg.
